Description
We are a small family beekeeping business located in Felanitx.
For some years dedicated to beekeeping and betting on local and quality products.
We collect different varieties of multifloral honey, that is possible by placing the apiaries in different places of Mallorca, each with its particular flora.
Therefore, we can find Black Beia honeys of light tones and others of very dark tones.
I hope you enjoy them!
Beia Negra - Beekeeping island
It all started with a swarm collected on a farm in San Lorenzo, over time, and when I say time I mean years, I increased the number of hives. It is an exciting job, where every day you can surprise yourself and learn something new. The management of bees is complex, but with effort and perseverance we have managed to have the necessary knowledge for their care. At present, we are dedicated to the production of honey and live material, that is: to the sale of bees to other beekeepers and passionate about these wonderful loved ones.
Honey and different flavors
Mallorca honey is usually multifloral, this is because there are no huge extensions of a single flower, but a wide variety of them, which bees appreciate for their health and nutrition.
In autumn things change, flowers are scarcer and the flowering of heather and carob predominates.
The harvests are not as abundant as in other regions of Spain due to rainfall. If it rains little, the flowers produce little nectar, which is what the bees collect to turn it into honey.
Traditionally in Mallorca the collection of honey was for San Juan (June 24) and for All Saints' Day (November 1), but nowadays with climate change these dates vary according to the year.
The care of the hives
Let's not forget that bees are one of the living species that must be taken care of throughout the year. Spring and autumn are two times of the year that the work increases, and this is because it is time for flowering and natural reproduction of bees.
