We work in harmony with nature with the aim of producing wines of exceptional quality, producing terroir wines that reflect the character of our unique Mediterranean location.

At ES FANGAR VINS sustainable and organic agriculture is a top priority. All our wines are certified organic and vegan with DO Pla i Llevant Mallorca.

Description

The unique terroir of Es Fangar is due to the synergy of the microclimate influenced by the sea, the undulating topography and the well-drained, limestone-rich soil. These are the ideal conditions that make it possible to produce wines with a very fresh mineral profile overflowing with aromas of Mediterranean fruits and spices. These notes blend together to give us complex wines that develop in the glass... drop by drop...

Our indigenous varieties offer a unique flavour experience. They are carefully blended with the french varieties traditionally grown in Mallorca. Our 56 hectares of vineyards are planted with Prensal, Giró Blanc, Callet, Manto Negro and Gorgollassa, and with the international varieties Chardonnay, Viognier, Muscat, Merlot, Syrah and Cabernet Sauvignon. All grown according to organic principles.

History

Following extensive research, we know that the history of the estate dates back to Roman times. It is first mentioned in the 14th century, when agriculture and viticulture were essential to the life and trade of the islands. It is believed that the finca and its surroundings were indispensable for the supply of the town, which is why cereal and wine were grown.

During the 19th century Mallorca suffered from the phylloxera invasion which wiped out almost all of the island's vineyards. When the current owners acquired the estate they found a unique location with a nature reserve of 600 hectares as well as immense fields and wild forests of pine, olive and carob trees.

Vinyards

Viticulture has always been one of the pillars of agriculture in the Pla i Llevant area. After the serious damage caused by phylloxera, the old vineyards were completely eliminated and only the remains of an old wine cellar located on the estate were preserved.

In 2004 it was decided to revive and replant the first vineyards on the hills of the estate. Native varieties such as Giro Ros or Prensal Blanc and international varieties were planted with the utmost care for a traditional and efficient integration.

Today the estate has 56 hectares of vineyards, with a project to expand the vineyard for future generations.

Winery

The Es Fangar Vins winery was inaugurated in April 2016 after achieving exceptional results in the first winery that was built as a test in 2007.

The design as well as the capacity were key in the development of this ambitious project that had to combine tradition and modernity. After 3 years of construction, the doors of one of the most modern wineries in Spain were opened.

Today we receive visitors from all over the world, not only for the excellent wines we produce, but also for the impressive architecture and design, especially in the interior.

The Bodega has a total surface area of 7300 m² which is spread over 4 floors. We have approximately 190 barrels with capacities ranging from 225 litres to 500 litres and foudres of up to 6000 litres.

The predominant machinery for the production is from the company Bucher Vaslin.

This guarantees not only the best processing of the grapes but also the best pressing results.
